  1. Slathered in schizoid punk, synth belches, abstract noise compositions and rhythmic heat, Bonsai Superstar is a tour de force. From the herky-jerky spazz of “Hot Metal Dobermans” and “Hands of the Genius” to the sexy “Flypaper” and “Fucking With the Altimeter” to the Moog/samples-damaged “Transmissions After Zero,” the album is engaging, frenetic and fucked up in all the right ways.
  2. Nov 21,  · With Bonsai Superstar, the maniacal midwestern collective Brainiac singlehandedly defined junkyard electro-rock. The merits of this achievement are debatable, but the fact remains that this clanging mess is one heck of a killer album, and it could quite possibly be unlike anything you've ever heard. At times, Brainiac's vision is baffling.5/5(8).
